A township in Kerala with apartments and villas for people across low to high income groups.
The studio emphasised a people-centric approach, prioritising end-user needs, perceptions and site-specific challenges to establish comprehensive design guidelines.
The exercise encompassed master planning, grid planning, the integration of vertical and horizontal circulation, structural systems and contemporary materials - along with landscape detailing, universal design principles, financial feasibility and construction techniques that promote sustainability and efficiency.
Concept
The massing responds to the preferred direction of view and to the wind. From the building footprint, the built mass is sloped to increase façade area, opened up to let the wind through, and shaped dynamically to maximise views towards the river.
Homes
Four unit types serve different households: 1BHK apartments of 76 m², 2BHK of 113 m², 3BHK of 155 m² and villas of 220 m².
